National Junior Honor Society membership is invitation-only and an honor. Everyday Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship the shared values of all members. Viking students are initially chosen because of theiroutstanding scholarship.They earn high teacher ratings based on citizenship, leadership and character.As a group, we provide service for as many different communities as possible during the year.

What is the induction process for Viking School? **First, 6th and 7th graders must earn honor roll both first and second quarters of the year. **Next, teachers evaluate those students based on the qualities of Citizenship, Leadership and Character. **If a student earns a high rating, then they have the opportunity to complete paperwork and then write an essay to finish the application process. **A Teacher committee then determines eligibility
Why are only 6th and 7th graders considered for induction? Students are inducted at the end of the year, and 8th graders would not have time to participate in activities.
Why are students inducted at the end of the year? End of the year Induction allows students to participate in meetings and service projects for an entire school year. Every year we provide service to as many different communities as possible. Having students ready at the beginning of the year allows for more time to plan and participate in the various activities.

Provided snacks for all Viking Students prior to MAP testing Worked at the Viking School Store Worked at the concession stand at Viking Provided lunches for PADS Packed meals at Feed My Starving Children Visited the Veteran's Hospital with service dogs Made and delivered Holiday cards and crafts to Seniors Made and delivered blankets to local Assisted Living Facilities in Gurnee Clean up Depot Road in Gurnee Provided supplies and worked for Fill A Heart which supports local homeless youth
